Preschool Pumpkin Project
Ms.Wood’s preschool class divided into three groups to decorate pumpkins. Before the decorating began, each group talked about if they wanted to make a scary pumpkin, happy pumpkin, silly pumpkin, etc. The teachers facilitated the discussion and helped them to understand that the whole group would have input into the decorating…no one was the “leader”.
A table of possible items to use to decorate was available to the children. They had fun, worked together very well, and created some pumpkin memories!
The pumpkins were put into the hallway to display for the whole school. Everyone was asked to vote for their favorite by putting a bean in a jar in front of that pumpkin. Group 1 won (but the preschoolers don’t need to know that!!).
