Chair For My Mother
Third grade did a STEM activity based on the book A Chair for My Mother. In the story it talks about how the mother is tired after a long day at work and wants to “take a load off”. After listening to the story, children worked in pairs to create their own person who needed to “take a load off”. Each pair had a design brief and had to work cooperatively to meet all criteria by only using toothpicks and gumdrops to create a sitting person.
