Fifth Grade students combined their knowledge of circuits and conductive materials (from 4th Grade) and theme and variation (from music class) to play music in very interesting ways. Mrs. Howell was the mastermind behind the lesson that had the students use the Makerspace for two 20 minute periods. The first period was spent remembering how circuits worked and applying that knowledge to make the MakeyMakey work with a piano on the computer. On the second visit to the Makerspace, students took a song they knew how to play on the recorder and played it with whatever supplies they had hooked to their MakeyMakeys.
