This blog is really an archive of projects done by students and teachers at Oak Grove Elementary.

Words to know:

STEM Projects — Projects that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (and possibly other subjects).  Also called Children’s Engineering.

PBL Projects — Project Based Learning.  PBL projects usually address a “real world” problem and include an audience bigger than just the teacher.  Often they include the community.

21st Century Skills — Projects that include one or more of the 21st Century Skills (Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking).

Makerspace — Modeled after hackerspaces, a makerspace is a place where young people have an opportunity to explore their own interests, learn to use tools and materials, and develop creative projects. It can adapt to a wide variety of uses and can be shaped by educational purposes as well as the students’ creative goals.

Projects may fall under one or more categories.
